Spreadsheet Software: If you do not already have Excel or other spreadsheet software available, LibreOffice is open-source software which includes a spreadsheet application.Git (also provides BASH for Windows users): This requires administrative privileges to install, so check with your IT department if you do not have administrative privileges on your system.Please ensure that these packages are installed PRIOR to attending the workshop. You will need administrative privileges on your laptop to install the packages required for the training. This workshop requires you to supply your own laptop and install specific software in advance of the workshop. This workshop will be held online via Zoom. Topics include: OpenRefine, Introduction to Git, Tidy Data, and Webscraping. This workshop will focus on lessons from the Library Carpentry curriculum. If you are having problems with the installation, please consult your IT department or OCIO.

This workshop will be held on all 4 days from 1 - 5:00 PM ET

Once the installation completes, open the Anaconda3 prompt or console and enter “conda install -c conda-forge plotnine”ĭetailed installation notes can be found here:.

The default installation options are fine (you can uncheck the Tutorial and Getting Started at the last screen).

Use the 64-bit installer (it should work for most recent systems).

Python: Use the bundled Python installer called Anaconda.

Note that you may need to install Java on your system if it is not already installed Please install the latest version of OpenRefine.
